Family Visa

  1. Family stay visa Family stay visa is a visa that allows people who have obtained a visa for employment, study, cultural activities, etc. to obtain residence status for their spouse and children who are supported by them to live together in Japan.

This provision means that the dependents who have obtained any of the following residence statuses: "Professor", "Literature and Art", "Religion", "Journalism", "Business and Management", "Law and Accounting", "Medical", "Research", "Education", "Technology", "Humanities and International Business", "Intra-company Transfer", "Performance", "Skills", "Cultural Activities", "Study Abroad" (limited to spouse or children).

  3. It should be noted that family stay visas are generally for spouses or children holding the above residence status, not their parents. And when holding a family stay visa, you must apply for a permit for non-qualified activities.

Family members can obtain a family stay visa for the same number of years as the applicant. Family members = spouse and children (if over 18 years old, they must provide proof of school attendance) ※ Parents and relatives are not eligible.
